eBay Fee Calculator
eBay's final value fee depends on the category — picking the right one matters more than any other input on this page.
“You keep” is item price + shipping minus fees. Sales tax you collect is remitted to tax authorities — eBay charges its fee on it, but it is never your income.
How eBay fees are calculated
- Final value fee: a percentage of the total amount of the sale (item + shipping + sales tax). Most categories: 13.6% on the portion up to $7,500 per item, 2.35% above. Payment processing is included — there is no separate processing charge.
- Per-order fee: $0.30 on orders of $10 or less, $0.40 above $10 (not charged on Athletic Shoes sold for $150+).
- Category rates differ a lot — from 3% (Heavy Equipment) to 15.3% (Books/Movies/Music) — with tiered breakpoints for Watches, Bags, and Jewelry as shown in the category list.
- Not modeled: insertion fees (250 listings/month are free, then $0.35), Store-subscriber discounts, Promoted Listings (you set the ad rate), and the $20 dispute fee.
